Moving from Teaching to Reflecting, with Tara Crow

A concern often debriefed in SoS is from supervisors worried they are spending too much time in the ‘Lecture Theatre’ teaching their supervisees 'what to do' in supervision at the cost of developing the supervisees reflective practice skills. We take a developmental lens to this dilemma and look at both the developmental stages of the supervisor AND the developmental stages of the supervisee which may be informing this dynamic. We will explore a framework for transitioning from the teaching space to the reflective space informed by Motivational Interviewing and share a selection of open question micro-skills to get your supervision heading in a more reflective, deeper learning direction. Content will reference Daf Hewson’s Supervision Spaces but previous training in this model is not essential.
